How does SITIA
work?
SITIA works cooperatively with
grass-roots, non-governmental, development and international organizations
to help them achieve access to and to disseminate pertinent agricultural
information. This is done through the design, construction and use of
information technologies.
SITIA provides information
technology development services by identifying needs, developing projects
and contracting with appropriate organizations to provide the needed solutions.
It does this through cooperation with pertinent partners. It also develops
and provides human resources services in the use, design and implementation
of information technology solutions with emphasis in the agricultural
disciplines.
In particular:
- SITIA adapts and applies
modern information technology to meet the unique needs of agricultural
scientists, extension agents and others involved with agriculture.
- SITIA is effective in providing
mechanisms for the transfer of appropriate information technology through
training, assistance with the licensing of software and the identification
and implementation of cost-effective computer technologies.
- SITIA develops efficient
and appropriate networking and Internet services for finding information
relevant to institutional and country-level agriculture needs.
- SITIA helps agricultural
organizations assess information technology needs and plan and implement
information technology projects in cost-effective and sustainable ways.
- SITIA builds partnerships
between information providers and information consumers and between
commercial and non-commercial institutions regardless of their location.
- SITIA facilitates the cost-effective
exchange of agricultural knowledge.
